About

While some may consider “ENE LIVE” a newcomer to the music scene, she is in fact a seasoned singer, songwriter, pianist and producer.

Like many of todays fan favorites, Enes’ development began in the church. She quickly developed from singing in the choir at the tender age of 9 to composing for the college and the high school in her home of Nigeria.

Ene’s father, a Nigerian research pharmacist and college professor had an eclectic taste for international music. He introduced her to the music of legendary artists such as Stevie Wonder, The Beetles, Whitney Houston, Earth, Wind and Fire and Fela, all of which would influence her own music taste and sound later in life.

Motivated by love, life and God, It is important for Ene Live to incorporate serious life messages into some of her music, but in an enjoyable and relaxed way. This graceful touch may be why Ene Live describes her love of music as a calling, “I believe I have a calling to heal and encourage through song.”

This infusing of multiple styles separates her from other artists in her genre and gives her listeners an experience that is difficult to find in much of today’s music. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Nigeria, Scotland and Staten Island, New York.  Hence her music is laced with urban soul and hip-hop rhythms with African undertones and also reflects her gospel background. As a result Ene describes her music as “world soul”.

Similar to her influences, her musical abilities are also varied. She is an instrumentalist, plays the piano, which was the catalyst for her interest in music. In addition to her instrumental abilities, Her lyrical style and content is magnetizing. It should come as no surprise that she has kept good company recording with sultry singer songwriter and Philadelphia Recoding Academy project manager Carol Riddick, as well as Hip Hop recording artist Cassidy. While the term lyricist has been applied to rap artists, she certainly earns this title.

Live music is where Ene shines, hence the name. In an industry where live music is a dying art, she is reviving this genre in its actual sense. She considers live music the soul of music. For Ene, Live music is what transcends the soul of the music to a particular audience. Live music is like a “thumbprint” she says. “It cannot be duplicated twice in quite the same way…. a true artist is able to feel the atmosphere they are in, and deliver accordingly”. In addition, she takes pride in selecting musicians not only for their talent, but for their abilities to bring their instruments to life, an important dynamic to her live shows that transcends the music from the mind to the soul.

Ene Live has been privileged to perform in popular venues in the New York and Philadelphia area. She recently opened for Janelle Monae who personally listened to her music during the selection of an opening act and expressed her captivation over Ene Live’s musical style, lyrics and voice. Ene Live continues to grow her musical abilities gracefully.

Stay tuned.
